WHISTLER BLACKCOMB, HAUL ROPE INSTALL, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Whistler-Blackcomb is the biggest ski area in North America and Canada by area.  It has grown to be one of the world’s most visited resorts. On August 8, 2016 Vail Resorts acquired Whistler Blackcomb for 1.06 billion.  In 2018, Vail invested 66 million dollars, the largest single amount in the resort’s history, in order to boost skier capacity. This was realized by upgrading existing lifts and to fund a new gondola.  Located at the base of Blackcomb, the new 10-person Gondola has a capacity of 4000 people and travels over 4 km (2.52 miles). Rocky Mountain Lift Services & Supplies Inc. was contracted out by Doppelmayr Canada to assist with the expansion and install the haul ropes on the new Blackcomb Gondola.
